Customization Tips & Tricks

Create a Custom Splash Page

0
This is requested some times on the Guild Launch support forums. Guild Launch is looking to implement this feature in the future. For now you can make your own by following these steps.
  1. Go to the "Content" tab under the admin panel and selected "Create Page". This is the page your visitors will see after they click past the splash page. Enter some text here, then called it whatever you like (ie: "Start", "Home", etc.). Make sure it is set to "public" as well. Save the page. Copy the link to this custom page from your browser's address bar (ie: http://myguild.guildlaunch.com/custom.php?gid=123456&page_id=&page_id=12345). Your guild name, page id, and gid (guild id) will be different, but the link will look the similar.

  2. Edit the "about guild" section on your home page. Click on the HTML button to edit HTML directly. Add the following HTML, but be sure to change the link to the one you copied above:
    Code: Select all
    <div style="position: absolute;
       left: 0px;
       top: 0px;
       width: 100%;
       height: 100%;
       background: #000000;
       text-align: center;
       font-size: 24px;">

       <br/ ><br />
       WELCOME!
       <br /><br />
       Test Splash Page
       <br /><br />
       <a href="http://myguild.guildlaunch.com/custom.php?gid=123456&page_id=&page_id=12345">
          Click here to continue...
       </a>
    </div>

  3. Back in the admin panel, under the "Template & Customization" tab, click on "Primary Navigation". Then edit the "Home" link. Change the URL to the one you copied from the first step (custom page URL).

  4. Visit your guild's site again (from it's main link, not the home button) and you should see the splash page. Click the splash page's link to go to your custom page which is now your new "home" link. To edit your splash page, just go to "Content" tab in the admin panel, then click on the "Guild Description" link. Always edit this page in HTML mode to avoid losing the formatting to get it to look like a splash page. Optional: If you're sharp with HTML and CSS, then move the styling of the div tag into your CSS file and reference it as IDs or classes to make editing this splash page easier.

Example test site with this splash test page: http://rs-test.guildlaunch.com/

You can easily add your own flash file, embedded YouTube video, or Image from your gallery to the splash page.
